There is a power in this music that will touch the audience in a deep way, on a spiritual level. This concert highlights the value of African culture, particularly Ghanaian culture, and exemplifies the West African roots of American musical forms. This is so critically important at this time in our global development. It is through music and dance that we can truly celebrate each other. Jazz has its collective essence and it is truly beautiful to imagine this collective cultural phenomenon and its impact on this and future audiences. This concert is produced by Homowo African Arts & Cultures with support from The Collins Foundation, The Kinsman Foundation, The National Endowment for the Arts, Regional Arts and Culture Council and the Oregon Arts Commission.
